Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 10:34AM SCOTT athlete Jo Shimoda was named the 2023 “Prince of Paris” at the weekend after claiming the SX2 overall victory in his factory Honda and Paris supercross racing debuts. Shimoda was riding on top form, and displayed unmatched speed from the first practice sessions. The HRC rider appeared to be already feeling extremely comfortable on the new Honda CRF250, collecting four wins over the two days of racing and never finishing off the podium.
Savatgy... vs... AMA
Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 2:22PM Savatgy To AMA – “How a Rule That’s No Longer in Place Can Still Affect Me”
Joey Savatgy said on Instagram: “Didn’t think it would gain much attention. But after 81k views I guess it’s worth bringing to IG.. So here’s the run down. I’ve asked the “higher ups” to consider looking at my situation.. the point out rule that forced me to the 450 class in the first place, not being a rule anymore, I asked if they would allow me to move back down. I’ve been told they can’t allow me down because they “have to start a deadline somewhere” but IMO makes zero sense. I’ve tried to explain that there are 2 riders currently still racing that are affected by this rule and if you were to let us down there wouldn’t ever be a debate again. Which then I was told the “steering committee” aka team managers/ people with skin in the game have voted on it, and it was a no. I’ve also tried to explain that I don’t understand how a rule that’s no longer in place can still affect me, but that falls on deaf ears One last question. If the speed limit on my road was 55 when I moved in, but they changed it to 35 the next year.. do I get to continue going 55 since the new speed limit came after I was there? ”
Ferrandis Phoenix Racing Honda deal made official
Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 2:05PM To compete onboard CRF450R through entire 2024 SMX season.
The future of Dylan Ferrandis has been confirmed through the 2024 season, the Frenchman officially signing a deal with the Phoenix Racing Honda team next year onboard a CRF450R.
Ferrandis, 29, makes the switch after a long stint with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, which saw him win the 2020 250MX championship, plus the 450MX title the following year on debut.
With Cooper Webb, Eli Tomac and Justin Cooper to feature in Star Racing’s 450 program next year, it became evident that Ferrandis would not continue. Despite early rumours that he would join HEP Suzuki, he was recently seen testing with Phoenix Racing and he will contest the entire 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX).
Part of former multi-time 250SX West champion Ferrandis’ deal with Phoenix Racing is the addition of Factory Connection, which will see Rick ‘Ziggy’ Zielfelder an integral part of the organisation after working with Ferrandis in the final stages of Pro Motocross this year.
“I’ve always wanted to race a Honda and Phoenix Racing has given me the opportunity to do so,” said Ferrandis. “David Eller has been super-nice with my situation and working towards building a program that will work for me. This includes working with Factory Connection, which is something that was very important for me in 2024.
“So far everything has been really great and the feeling on the bike is exactly what I was looking for. Having Ziggy around, with all his experience in the sport, I really feel at home with him and the whole Phoenix Racing team. The vibe is awesome and I’m very thankful to be in this situation”
The opening round of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship takes place at Angel Stadium, Anaheim, on 6 January, with Chase Sexton (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) entering as the defending number one.

Frenchman Marvin Musquin will sit out the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, his future up in the air after an injury-affected season that saw him injured in January.
Musquin has been a mainstay at Red Bull KTM since arriving in the United States over a decade ago in 2011, continuing on a Supercross-only deal these past two years.
However, that plan was derailed almost immediately after he broke his wrist between Anaheim 1 and San Diego, effectively ending his campaign just one round into the season. He hasn’t returned to competition and, now, has announced that he won’t be returning for 2024.
“Many of you are wondering what I’m up to and what my plans are for the next couple months,” the 33-year-old revealed. “What I know for sure is that I won’t be racing the 2024 US Supercross series.
“I have been taking some good time off to heal my last injury. It’s been fun to get back on the bike and I love riding – I will give you more news as soon as I can. In the meantime, I hope to see you at the track for some fun.”
Musquin has been one of the most high profile riders in the sport globally, winning two MX2 World Championships prior to establishing his career in the US. He won the 250SX East title in 2015 and achieved a string of top-three results in the 450SX and 450MX series between 2016-2019.
The 2022 season saw Musquin finish fourth in the final 450SX standings, picking up a single victory – the 10th of his premier class career – in St. Louis. It’s unclear if he will maintain an association with KTM into the new year.
