Italian Future...Ducati Desmo 450

Davey Coombs was in Italy for the reveal of Ducati's factory race teams for 2024, which includes not just MotoGP and World Superbike efforts, but a motocross bike and race team as well. While not much is known about the new Desmo450 MX from a technical perspective, it's good to see the bike in the flesh. It will be raced in the Italian MX Nationals later this year with a planned emergence into MXGP in 2025, and there are hopes we'll see the bike in AMA SX, MX and SMX in 2026. Here's a quick look.

Chase Sexton, Levi Kitchen, Lars Lindstrom Post-Race Anaheim 2 Supercross

The 2024 Anaheim 2 Supercross Triple Crown proved to be another exciting night of racing. Six different winners in the six different 250 and 450 Main Events. Chase Sexton is still second in the Championship, behind his teammate Aaron Plessinger. Jett Lawrence's last-lap crash dropped him from a podium position to sixth on the night and Levi Kitchen 1-2-3 moto finishes earned him the overall in the 250 class. We talked to Chase Sexton about his race, HRC Honda team manager Lars Lindstrom about Jett, Hunter and Jo, we had Ty and Tanner Payton (son's of Mitch Payton) interview Levi Kitchen and we spoke with James Coy, team manager for BarX Suzuki, about Anthony Bourdon's Supercross success on the Suzuki RM-Z250.

Post-race penalty denies Anderson Anaheim 2 podium result

Race direction docks final race finish to award Plessinger third overall.

An in-form Jason Anderson was denied a podium result at Anaheim 2, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider penalized after accepting the third-place trophy, which instead later belonged to Aaron Plessinger.

Anderson has been in the headlines all week since his clash with Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) in San Diego, but quickly found the front of the pack in the Triple Crown.

The 2018 450SX champion was fourth in the opening encounter and won the second outing in convincing fashion, before an early crash in race three was costly. He found his way up to seventh, which was enough for P3 overall, before being docked one position and bumped off the podium.

“Race direction deemed number 21 Jason Anderson gained an advantage while off track.He was docked one position in the final race, resulting in a fourth overall, with Aaron Plessinger finishing third overall.”

Anderson is now positioned sixth in the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship standings, with three top-five finishes from the opening four rounds. His worst finish to date has been a 12th in the mud of San Francisco.

Being constant pays off: Cooper Webb wins Triple Crown in Anaheim

Angel Stadium hosted the AMA Supercross 450 for the second time this season, with this being a Triple Crown day, where Cooper Web finished as the winner… without ever having won. Chase Sexton, Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson were the race winners.

In the first heat Chase Sexton finished as the winner and dominated the entire session, crossing the finish line in first place on all 14 laps, finishing with a lead of 2.311s over second, Webb, while Ken Roczen was third.

Jason Anderson was fourth and Eli Tomac fifth.

In the second heat, it was Jason Anderson’s turn to win his first main event this season. Webb finished the first lap in front, but Webb overtook his opponent and once he had done so he never let go of the lead, relegating the #2 to second place in the session, with Jett Lawrence taking the final podium place.

Plessinger and Justin Cooper were fourth and fifth respectively.

In the final main event of the night, the third, victory went to Eli Tomac, who crossed the finish line in first place for all 14 laps, finishing with a lead of more than 7s over second, Sexton, while last week’s winner, Aaron Plessinger, was third.

Jett Lawrence was fourth and Webb rounded off the top five.

At the end of the day, Webb took overall victory with a 2-2-5, with Tomac second and Plessinger third.

In the championship accounts, Plessinger retains the lead with 80 points, Sexton is second with 76 and Webb has risen to third place, now with 74.
