Haaker Wins Round One

Monday Shout Out - Colton Haaker

Picking up the AMA EnduroCross Championship exactly where he left off the SuperEnduro series by winning ensures Colton Haaker deserves a very worthy Monday Shout Out.

Rolling into the Atlanta arena for the opening round of the 2016 AMA EnduroCross Championship the agenda were pretty damn clear for the SuperEnduro World Champion - nail 15 perfect laps and check out for the main event win.

“I’m here to win main events, it’s what I’ve trained for. It’s what I’ve put the hours and hours of work in for. That’s what matters to me,” told Haaker with the first round of the eight-race series having gone his way.

Determined to produce the form on home turf that saw him become world champion, Haaker looked the polished real deal come the gate dropping in Atlanta.

Slotting into second behind Taddy Blazusiak, he then confidently sat back for almost two laps before diving down the inside of Blazusiak in the log pit to take the lead.

From there on out it was a matter repeating one of his countless main event drills mistake free - or as near as you can get to it in endurocross - to win.

How the series will inevitably pan out remains to be seen but one things for sure Haaker means business. He’s much more the finished package than ever he was before.

And with that world title providing that final piece of championship-winning self belief, he’s one step away from adding a debut AMA title to his collection.

It’s going to be a very interesting season indoors…
